AMDGPU instead of Radeon?

Hey Folks,
I'm a complete noob to this. I just tried playing on Solus with Lutris and I appear to be unable to use DXVK because Solus is using Radeon drivers for my AMD 7950. From what I read that card should be able to use Vulkan in combination with mesa. But it appears to be an issue of the driver reporting that it can not. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have tried switching to AMDGPU using kernel parameters:
radeon.si_support=0
radeon.cik_support=0
amdgpu.si_support=1
amdgpu.cik_support=1
-> no effect
also tried:
nomodeset -> lspci doesn't list any driver in use
radeon.modeset=0 -> no boot/video

Any more ideas? Pls halp...

Solved: It actually works with a recent enough kernel... I was on 4.9.xx...
Back when I installed Solus the software center would automatically update kernels and I did not recognize that changed.
