Cannot use Steam Overlay

Simple as that. everything else from Steam works, but I can't find my way to the Overlay. Yes it is activated, also tried original keybinds, but nothing. Am I missing something??

Edit: If you have installed Steam through Lutris it will not work, it didn't work for me either. You should uninstall Steam from Lutris and install from the Solus repository.

laky yes, that what I mean, it's useful to join games via invite, reply a few chats while in-game and not much more. Now that you say, F12 screenshot doesn't work either.

Are you running it using the steam runtime rather than the native runtime?

Close Steam,
Launch the Linux Steam integration application.
Check that the Use native runtime option is enabled. If it is not then enable it.
Close the Linux steam integration application (the setting doesn't seem to be applied until you close it).
Launch steam, launch a game and try to bring up the overlay.

Neumie yes, that fixed it. I had it disabled because it is metioned in the FAQ on ProtonDB. (https://www.protondb.com/help/troubleshooting-faq, on the first question.)

Oh now that I've tried it I know what you mean, and it doesn't work for me either. Strange, I remember I've used F12 once and it worked but it isn't working now

I'm curious about Steam, and it sounds like too much of a common word to be very good in an online search.

I've hoped for a long time that I could find a way to run the P-Touch label editor on Linux, but the company (Brother) does not provide any kind of Linux edition. From messages here, I get the impression that Steam can allow running Windows graphic software (especially games) on Linux. Any chance that it might work for my need?

That's the remaining reason I sometimes have to boot my workstation into Windows, and I'd love to make it completely unnecessary!

WetGeek Well I doubt that, but the way Steam allows windows games to run on Linux is by use of Proton, which is and I quote :

Proton is a mostly free and open-source compatibility layer that allows software designed for Microsoft Windows to run on Linux-based operating systems. Proton is developed by Valve and based on a fork of Wine. It includes several patches and libraries to improve performance and compatibility with Windows games.

pretty sure if Wine can't handle the software you need to run the editor, Proton will not work either.

WetGeek I'm not sure if you will be able to use steam proton, as it translates Direct9-12 into Vulkan, but have you taken a look at wine and wine-tricks? I haven't used it myself manually so no idea.

juliocormor Yea winetricks worked for me , It installed a software that helps me modify my mouse settings, the software installed and the app opend but it didn't notice that my mouse was plugged in, the software had no support for linux whatsoever but It is never wrong to try it out.
