I've only been using Linux for a bit over a year (and Solus for a day) and my background is NOT in computer science, so I wouldn't assume that I know anything. Hahaha. That said.
I went to the software store and installed the icedtea plugin. I don't see it in my software, though. It installed jdk 8 or whatever, also.
I tried "open with" and the default is Firefox. It doesn't seem to do anything with it. I see no other applications on the "open with" tab (including not seeing icedtea) that would seem feasible for running a .jnlp.
I have a fresh install of Solus 4.1.
For those who find it relevant, the file is itcharts.jnlp. I got it from IG, a forex broker. The file is a Java file that is supposed to launch ProRealTime, a technical analysis charting platform for currency trading and whatnot (I'm mainly putting these details so maybe it'll show up in search results in the future if someone else has a similar issue).
From what I've gathered while troubleshooting this for linux, it seems like I need this file to get in contact with a "javaws" file or something, and, together, they'll give me what I want. Haha. Any suggestions for running JNLP files on solus?
Thanks, peeps!
