Audio not coming out of headphones

Hello!
I just installed Solus budgie onto a late 2012/2013 iMac. Everything is running smoothly (as far as I can tell so far) except that sound does not come out of headphones when plugged in. Unplugged, the built-in speaker works just fine, but whatever I plug into the aux is silent. In the Sound system settings the output does switch from "Speakers - Built-in Audio" to "Headphones - Built-in Audio," but testing produces nothing when switched. I've tinkered in alsamixer (which also visually seems to see the headphones when plugged in), turning off auto-mute and whatnot, but to no avail. Help?

Also, I am able to plug in an external headphone DAC/amp via usb and that works just fine. I realize that I'm bypassing any on-board sound processing so I'm not sure if that info helps, but it seems notable to my novice perceptions. Thanks again!

Figured it out using other distributions troubleshooting options. Just do the following:
sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/mac-fix.conf <<<'options snd-hda-intel model=imac27_122'
Then restart and test your headphones output. Worked like a charm for me using current kernel, it also worked for me using other distros like Fedora, Ubuntu, etc. I too have a late 2013 iMac. If you need help with the wifi, there is also an easy fix for that as well...
