newer hplip version possible?

I've switched my parents devices from Manjaro to Solus due to the periodically update issues. After a few weeks of testing they were happy with Solus and I would have to install it finally. Now I see their HP MFP isn't supported by Solus' hplip version. The printer itself is installed fine by Solus but I can't get the scanner to work. The required plugin is installed. Is there any way to get the scanner work without hplip or to get a newer version of hplip manually?

Thank you but i fear this is beyond my technical and english knwoledge because I really don't know what I have to do there.

Go to the Hlip website they have a list of supported devices make sure its support they supported my laserjet 2100m from the 80's it just wont die lol but check anyway i did notice its a few versions behind. I kinda liked there concept for there printers on linux. That will be support for the newer version tho

The mfp is supported by hplip. But in version 3.18 and not 3.16 :-(

You can post here in English even give from which exact version your printer is supported.

Posting here isn't very different than posting on the Dev Tracker.

Cool at least its supported that was the biggest deal been around computers most my life linux command stuffs works my brain to hard..haha Printers are important should get updated ok I just checked my Hplip installed it 2 days ago and its 3.18.6?

As i understand it the printer is detected and works, it is just the scan function that is the issue ?

Exactly!
I knew the post you linked and all the mentioned packages are already installed but no scanner accessible.

For you perhaps. For me it's hard enough to rape the translators and get some meaningful sentences to the board. This Dev Tracker is a different and foreign platform again where I'm not familiar with. Hell, I don't want to hurry the developers for a certain package. I just wanted to know if there is a way to get my parents MFP to work properly.

MetaNorm You should not be scared of dev tracker, it is a tool used to keep the work organized, to have a decent follow up of the requests, etc. Nobody bites there, nobody will blame you if your english isn't perfect...

If people are too shy to ask, then they might wait for a very long time....
