Internet search security errors relate to system time error?

Hi all, I'm looking for information to set my budgie desktop for Automatic Date & Time. If I slide the switch to On, it won't stick. My browser started throwing security errors it says are clock differences. I swapped out my MB battery, no problem there. I'm beginning to think my router might be bunged up.
This is not helpful:
sudo timedatectl set-ntp yes
