*none of my afternoon reading matches my scenario, and for that I apologize**
#1) Current solus is on "unsupported" USB, run daily. I don't know what 'unsupported' means but I'm seeing it lately and will take Solus' word for it.
Abandoning unsupported OS media for a supported OS media here..
#2) the target install drive: a 500GB HDD that our own gsmart, disks, and smartctl declared healthy. sda.
#3) a DD-written shiny new 4.1 ISO USB is ready to rock, integrity/shasum verified, today
Now what?
How do I get /home folder of #1 copied to #2 before the install? simple as copy command?
what about the edit fstab/uuid business?
and the remove symlink business? why would I have to? Original USB OS is just becoming a vessel anyway upon hdd success. (a BIG if at this point). Why even back it up?
And will #3 destroy the new /home folder on #2? I've installed fresh Solus many times and I don't remember a dialogue box where it would respect anything's sanctity/sovereignty during install..
The HDD is newly fat formatted, and bios (legacy), non-uefi. Do I now just get to gparted and create a root /home partition on the HDD to the comfy tune of 1GB or something? Then copy command the /home folder the HDD new partition?
If you read this far I should mail you cash money. As much brevity as I could muster considering the variables.
Would like to get this transitioned in the next 7-10 days, so any all opinions welcome.
Thank you, forum.
