synth-ruiner Shouldn't be needed as Mutter which Budgie relies upon is (partially) a compositor. Transparency in alacritty works for me on GNOME, which also runs on Mutter.

paracetamol odd i got the settings just right, but cant see anything on the terminal but a solid term 🙁

derekagraham78 Maybe you're being affected by this bug. It's been since resolved, but perhaps something about your hardware drivers is still triggering it.

As a last resort: could you upload your config file somewhere so we can take a look?

derekagraham78 you have a font size declaration without the parent font: uncommented, might be breaking things.
ditto for visual_bell: and I think some things are indented when they shouldn't be, e.g. background_opacity

i tried to attach a screenshot but it gives a reload page error

derekagraham78 You have indentation all messed up - that's why your config doesn't work. YAML is white-space aware, so you got to be careful. For example you commented out some top level categories, while leaving their children uncommented confusing alacritty's YAML parser.

if you delete the commented lines you get an idea of what the parser is seeing. it probably thinks background_opacity is a child of colors 🙂

that worked thanks, I will learn the structure of the format soon 🙂 now if i could get the cursor to show an I beam instead of the block, hmm i tried uncommenting cursor: and setting style: Beam but no change
