Bruce Sterling posted the tactical stocking. He writes fiction. I've been following him on tumblr and on his blog on Wired.com for years. He loves this kind of "Design Fiction" stuff. His posts have a lot of it. He has used it in his writing about the future, and about an imagined past.
You've heard of Steampunk? Sterling and William Gibson wrote the book that started it all, called The Difference Engine. It was based on the design fiction that Charles Babbage's computer designs worked and went into production back way back when.
