Not installed Solus Plasma

Tried to write (usb 8gb) using Rufus, Etcher, MultiWriter (all according to instructions)

Not installed Solus Plasma
– No Caching mode page found
– Assuming drive cashe: write through

Then the KDE desktop is turned on, and you can't run Install (It just closes itself immediately)

I even thought that it was in conflict with the video card, pulled it out, and the result remained the same.

My PC:
– MSI B250 PC Mate (Legacy+UEFI; UEFI)
– Intel Pentium G4600
– Nvidea GeForce GTX 1050
– 12 Gb DDR4 2400 mHz
– 120 Gb SSD, 1 Tb HDD

PS: Solus Budgie installs and works fine, but I want Solus Plasma. 🙂

My experience with Plasma is similar to yours, only in my case it's sound that doesn't work. The developers are quite talented, though, and it's probably just a matter of another update or two before we're all happy with it.

The Plasma edition is the shiny new toy, compared with Budgie, but as you've seen, Budgie works.

Ah I've had this issue before. During bootup, press e when the "Solus 4.1 Plasma" Boot screen shows up. Then navigate to the end of that line, add a space, then type "nouveau.modeset=0". Then press enter to boot. Should work fine. You can also try "nomodeset" if my first suggestion doesn't work. I know this has helped me in the past with various distributions including Solus encountering issues with nvidia nouveau graphics. 🙂

Hit CTRL + ALT + F2
login with the user live
the user has no password so just hit Enter
and enter in the command line, the command data
stop sddm with systemctl stop sddm.service hit Enter
if you exit the command line, then press CTRL + ALT + F2 again
start sddm with systemctl start sddm.service hit Enter

Done, the GUI should load now. 😺
