Last night I encountered a system lockup while installing updates, updates I was excited about because as per @DataDrake 's post, these fixes made Snap work without having to refresh apparmor etc. I hadn't used Snap before but was keen to.
My system locked up at the last phase of the install and I had to do a hard reboot.
After this nothing booted - just a black screen. I used the solus live usb to recover some useful config files and then formatted the drive and did a fresh install of the latest ISO, fresh off the press.
Updates completed successfully and I installed a couple of Snap packages which theoretically installed correctly but when selected from the menu simply didn't open. I tried to remove the few packages I had installed and when I got to Spotify it started the first part of the process, something to do with openGL, and then the system hung once again.
Another hard reboot and I'm stuck in emergency mode, the only function that works is journalctl -xb
and what that spits out is completely foreign to me.
What do we think team? My suspicion is there may be an intermittent hardware fault at play, but it's strange these issues are only occurring in conjunction with Snap related activities. I would like to do whatever possible with software to eliminate that possibility or narrow down the culprit and could use sage advice! Thanks in advance.
