I've been trying to change the slick-greeter background on a new computer to no avail. So, I tried:

  • manually editing /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf.d/30_budgie_fortitude.conf by putting the absolute path to my image in the background key, also tried to add draw-user-backgrounds=false
  • installing lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings and tweaking things via GUI

Both with and without clr-boot-manager update, to no avail.
What am I missing ?

    Scotty-Trees I think you didn't read my post or the one you posted since I am explicitly stating that I've already been trying what was otherwise advised in the latest

    algent OMG Thx a lot!! I missed this one while eopkg sr, and took ightdm-gtk-greeter-settings instead of lightdm-settings, which indeed is the good one. SOLVED

    algent I did it manually editing the /etc/lightdm/slick-greeter.conf file 😁
    [Greeter]
    background=/usr/share/backgrounds/unsplash-min.jpg

      caesar96 Aren't config files in /etc overridden on package update ?

        ender nope. For the stateless packages /etc is actually the location where you have to put your own config files.

          caesar96 There are more options here.
          Using the GUI make this very simple. slick-greeter and lighdm-settings have same developers.

            algent In fact, I have more options written in that file, I just don't want to put all my crap in here 😀

            Scotty-Trees (let it be recorded that I do apologize for my last reply as I recon I misread the post mentioned: it indeed stated to modify /etc/ and not /usr/share)
