Do you like flat icons? Are there any 3D, realistic, complex icon packs?

I mean just look at IOS 6- beautiful, realistic, true to life icons.
From there on look how flat, boring and soulless icons have become- yes I understand that the simpler and more stupid and vivid icons are the more instant attention they grab, but seriously why everybody's making the same flat icons?
The old logo of Thunderbird was just beauty, the new logo is like 6-years old...it lacks depth.
So do you REALLY like the new flat icons everyone is making or you prefer the older ones?
Are they any icon themes that are 3D and realistic?
Also a little question- as I was cleaning old themes and removed many, among which the terrible black, default ones in Solus I found that when logging I get a harsh white box for typing password instead of the sleek and modern one...can I repair that?
