Tesla CyberTruck

So Tesla recently unveiled their newest vehicle, the CyberTruck. Looks unlike anything Tesla has ever designed, I think I'd only see something like this as some sort of civilian version of Halo's Warthog. What are your thoughts?

I don't know, it's nearly painful to look at...... And I'm fairly sure that a brick has better aerodynamics.

JoshStrobl Looks like a great vehicle for the undertaker business. A casket would fit nicely in the back. 😀 The Rivian is as far as I would go design-wise, at least at this stage.

My first reaction was eeew! But I'm actually, starting to like the whole thing.

Yea I had the same reaction henkesteen. First I was thinking "what on Earth, this isn't a pickup truck!" then "but wait...I've always wanted a futuristic looking, cyberpunk-esque vehicle" 🤔

I'm inherently skeptical of anything from Elon/Tesla. We'll see what the actual weight and towing specs end up being.

I have a feeling that thing is going to be a maintenance nightmare. A lot of flashy electronics, and a lot of heavy metal you have to get through in order to work on anything. Kind of important given it's a pickup; it's meant to be worked and abused.

EbonJaeger Yea it looks like, excluding window pieces and doors, the top frame is a single big slab of metal (unibody). Get a dent in that and you need to replace the entire thing instead of a segment. Eesh.

EbonJaeger is has hardly any moving parts, and there is less cabling compared to normal cars. Furthermore Tesla has an integrated cooling and airco system. All in all the tco should be a lot lower

Single piece of metal is 70/80s and might not be what you meant but metal-like with much polymerization/fiber/aluminum I'm sure.The video called it a single piece of 'stainless steel' but I 'm semantically skeptical. radically electric-draining unless tesla has a secret. Rubber sledgehammer demo convinced me they just have a better bandage. Maybe. Tesla is ahead of that with it's electric innovation. But that's as finite as a tank of petrol.
A fixed frame without panels is novel. Dent removal technology today may preclude replacing the entire 'fixed body' though. It might bolt to the frame/chassis with a revolutionary 10 bolts or something, and the power plant the same, but that's the easy part. Disconnecting the power plant/sensors between frame and body could take a day.
Regardless. I got no answers to my speculations at that furnished website but it's interesting.
It's not a 'utility' or 'suv' 'or 'truck' vehicle without a transfer case and if it never leaves pavement it's not really a truck.
Just a big station wagon🙂 Nothing punk about it.
Ugly as hell but all beauty is subjective. The best 5 years of my life were with this inefficient beast that was older than me...I'd buy another in a second...

I really don't see any difference in fixations.
Test drive one. Lease or buy it. Just go with your gut. That future truck looks like it could be fun.

I would expect to find this kind of design in a futuristic low-budget movie or eventually as a first draft prototype, but not for a product available for sale.

Perhaps he should put them all in his Starship so either they would explode or go into the space but they would stop hurting my eyes.

The fire brigade would have to come from experience with a small swimming pool and a strong forklift or small crane to get the reasonable and effective in the handle.
Thanks to V2A (stainless steel) he will be less susceptible to rust. Of course, cutting is only possible with acetylene. Non-magnetic is the thing then, for the most part. This may also shield the electromagnetic field of the e-motors better, so that the occupants are less stressed ....
Maybe they will be made in germany. Because pleite-musk wants to build a new plant here. And the Russian delivers good V2A (stainless steel) very cheap. Logistically that would be cheaper. In the processing of stainless steel, Germany was world leader. So it speaks a lot for it. And the estimated price would be explainable.
Optics or the design is a matter of taste. Where you can not do much with stainless steel. The rounder the more expensive. This also explains the price and the edges.
Clever, too. Because currently the SUVs are outlawed and attacked by these crazy and lukewarm FFF children. Especially in the cities. In the cart then have no more reason.
In the end, all that is left to ask is whether the actual series is going to be produced in large quantities.

I'm not much of a car person so I never would have thought any car could get me so excited.

If I could afford it, I'd buy it day 1.

It made me think of the taxi in "Total Recall," the "Johnnie Cab." It was self-driving, too.

For something to come out of Tesla looking so ugly is really confusing. They've been so properly futuristic until now. This thing looks positively confusing. For Mars, this would be perfect as it's more utility but I'll be watching to see what kind of reaction (through # of orders) it gets.

I like the looks of the Tesla pickup - I can't wait to see one on the road. It will either make me smile or make me laugh, I'm not sure which.

I admire the showmanship of Tesla. They announce something that nobody can buy in the near future, and people go crazy over it. They are so good at this. The other car companies can't do this because they have trucks (or roadsters or whatever) that they have to sell tomorrow, and they don't want people to stop buying their current vehicles in anticipation of something better a year or two away.
