How to remove / purge unnecessary locale files

I need some more space and would like to uninstall any locale files that I don't use.
How can this be done?

Search on menu for applications that you don't need then uninstall them, but don't uninstall applications that you don't know what they do.
Launch terminal and run sudo eopkg rmo to remove orphaned packages, which are packages that aren't used by any other package.
You can install bleachbit to clean some stuff on your PC, but also here you should be careful what you delete. If you don't understand what it is, then don't remove it.

kodm If by local you're referring to language files, then Bleachbit will do the trick. Check the tutorial forum for a tutorial post I created for doing so; Tools to Keep Your Drive Free of Detritus.

@Josh: How does Bleachbit cause breakage if you are merely removing language files? FTR, I've not experienced any issues using Bleachbit under Solus or Debian, including the removal of language files that I'll never need or use.

You cannot remove something you cannot refer to 😀 If you want to know which are you top larger folders/files run sudo du -a / | sort -n -r | head -n 20. To remove packages cache, use sudo eopkg delete-cache. If you want to remove packages which are not in use do sudo eopkg rmo. If you want to remove a package with all the auxiliairy packages you have installed when installing it do sudo eopkg rmf [PACKAGE NAME]. (Use the last one with a grain of salt however)

The usefulness of my suggestion to regain space will depend on how old your install is

Trim systemd journal, keeping only the last 48h.
sudo journalctl --vacuum-time=2d

Vacuuming done, freed 1.0G of archived journals

Delete package cache
sudo eopkg dc
Prior to running /var/cache/eopkg/packages alone was 6.1gb

I like to use the "bleachbit" program for that, it is in the repository! Be sure that you check your language you want to keep in the preferences...

Bleachbit is just gonna break packages, wouldn't recommend it for this kind of thing.
