Even the thought of Solus not existing scares me... ;( I'm really grateful for what the Solus guys are doing, it enabled me to take Linux to the next level. Other distros are okay, but Solus is just awesome! I'd probably use something with the KDE desktop but not an Ubuntu derivative.

I too thought that Solus does not exist would be a nightmare, it is true that now that I have Solus I do not care too much about other distributions and I did not know that Antergos was dead, so it would be either Anarchy Linux or Manjaro with a preference for the first 😃

My answer is NONE.
It's not for lack of trying.
@adurante Was mightily unimpressed trying a quite a few of these in your list, especially in the appearance, font, and performance departments. Toying with suse/tumble right now but it's no solus.

Probably Fedora (but it doesn't have Budgie) or maybe Clear Linux.

Debian sid with budgie of course 😀

MX-Horizon, because I can lock the Mobo Clock to what time I manually set it to. In Solus, I have disabled the Clock time sync from internet, and yet at this past daylight savings time, it changed anyway. the entirety of that OS is not based on Gnome- the worst 2 "Malfunctions" of Linux I've had, I observed a process running actively called Gvfs-MataData-(Big Writes), IMHO, that process needs a password check and Prompt with 2 PW before it can run. I must admit, life without Solus would be horrid. Thank you to the Team of wonderful and kind folks who put so much of their Precious Time into it.

Ubuntu MATE. It's installed on my other PC. Some software that works on Solus OS either only partially works or doesn't work at all on Ubuntu MATE, and to a lesser degree vice versa, so both systems complement each other quite well.

algent Unfortunately yes. I thought Antergos have a bright future since they made friendly Arch.

I'd probably use ElementaryOS if not for Solus Budgie

    My requirements are:

    • Works well on low powered laptop.
    • Supports ICC display profiles.
    • Supports lowering the color temperature at night.
    • I like the looks, and it's easy for me to use.
    • There is also app functionality I need, but most distros have that.

I did a lot of distro testing this summer and was pleasantly surprised when I found Solus Budgie.

    • XFCE doesn't quite make my requirements, as their "Night Light" app conflicts with built-in display profile support. I like the look and feel though.
    • KDE Plasma just doesn't appeal to me, which I admit is a personal, subjective thing.
    • I like the way Cinnamon looks and works. If I had more computer power I might run LXDE.
    • I would have to go back to Grub! I like the way Solus Budgie starts up much better.

probably Zorin os because the other distro's all look and feel same or something with budgie (Manjaro)

I would be using Fedora - I'm using Fedora on my workstation and Solus on my laptop.

      Probably Ubuntu but begrudgingly so.

Also I use CentOS at work.

Because I also use MX Linux 19, I would have to say that would be it. MX (those sweet MX Tools) and Solus are the only two distros I really like. The rest are just there.

synth-ruiner Yes, I meant LMDE. I ran it for a while during my distro testing last summer. Cinnamon, which is used in LMDE, has a feature similar to Icon Task List in Budgie, which I use and like.

Manjaro is my main Linux OS. Solus worked fine on my laptop, but I had issues getting it to work on my desktop, so I reverted back to Manjaro. I've been looking at other DEs besides Xfce, but it meets all my needs, so I'm sticking with it for now. I've toyed with the idea of reloading Solus, and I do keep it on a VM so I can keep up with it.
