Each DE uses a different file manager by default. For example, GNOME uses the Nautilus file manager, and KDE uses the Dolphin file manager. Neither of these file managers is vulnerable to this attack.
Solus Budgie and GNOME use Nautilus and Solus Plasma (testing) uses Dolphin. I think it may go without saying, but for optimal user security don't download, open, or use files from sources you don't trust or can't verify their integrity.
