automatically mount encrypted drive

im just doing some research ahead of buying an nvme

the plan is to have solus installed on the nvme, encrypted, and use the old ssd as a storage disk, also encrypted.

im familiar with encrypting the drive solus is isntalled on, and entering the password around grub, but im not sure how to do it with a separate 2nd drive.

also how and where would the 2nd drive be mounted? is it done by adding another entry in fstab?
and how to automatically decrypt it without having to enter the password again so that it just seamlessly becomes a part of the filesystem as soon as the desktop is loaded

also the idea is to switch from mbr to uefi or whatever its called. is this likely to make the process different? im so unfamiliar with this uefi stuff i dont even know what its called

You can do that with "Disks" tool in Solus. Just mount it like every other drive, make a folder in for example /mnt/ then use the path and folder in "Disks" there you can also add passwords for encrypted drives etc. Thtats how I mount my encrypted external drives too.

nodq playing around with gnome-disks and an external disk and going to 'edit encryption options' i get the error msg something about /etc/crypttab missing

edit: i realised crypttab was just a text file i could make myself, i thought it was an executable or something that was missing

thanks, i didnt know you could do that in gnome-disks
