Hey Guys,
First off congrats on Solus 4 release. I have a question related to an installation process.
I am not asking for ETA or anything here, but would like to know if adding a custom partition during install is supported.
Currently I just edit /etc/fstab after the install which is not a problem. Feature like that would save one reboot after installation.

Again, no pressure, just curious 🙂

Thanks in advance.

Actually, why would you need to reboot after adding entry in fstab? Just mount it and go on?

Yes there is that. Thank you. I think I have heard somewhere once that best practice would be to reboot, but perhaps this is wrong.
Still would be handy to set it up during the install

Mounting is not at all a risky procedure. Mount -a (as root) mounts everything listed in your fstab.

[deleted] I think keeping the installer as simple as possible is the best plan. Mounting of partitions isn't related to the installation, just the running of the OS.

There could be some improvements but a balance between benefit/complexity should be done. If there is little added value, it's probably better to focus the energy on something else.

If you want someone else's opinion, I agree (with Justin and Kyrios)
If the user is complex enough to have outside partitions to mount, then they probably should be able to mount themselves (if/when needed). No kitchen sink retool needed here (imo).

these replies are totally satisfactory. As I mentioned, I do not mind to mount them manually
      Cheers Guys

That said, we should probably make sure that if you are using manual partitioning, any additional partitions are written to /etc/fstab.

      Excellent friendly point, DataDrake.
