Using NAS with Plex media server

Hi everyone,

My home NAS (WD My Cloud) doesn't support PLEX on it's own. I'm trying to find a workaround. I installed Plex media server on my laptop and I would like to use my NAS for media storage. The only problem I have is my NAS has to be mounted on my laptop , for example , /mnt/NAS.

My NAS has a fixed IP address. I tried to search on google but I can't find anything useful.

I usually access my NAS by SMB or SSH which are not supported in PLEX for files streaming.

Is this not working ?
Because I used the same exact method some time ago to connect to a network share and it worked fine.

CorvusRuber how did you mount your NAS in /mnt folder ? That's what I'm trying to figure out

Via fstab, as written in the article.
//yourIpGoesHere /mnt/samba smbfs username=docsadm,password=D1Y4x9sw 0 0
If there's no /mnt directory create it sudo mkdir /mnt

CorvusRuber tried it. /mnt/samba keep showing up empty after reboot. I tried to replace smbfs filesystem by cifs and it didn't work either.

Sorry, I'm out of options. For me it worked without issues, so I didn't really take a deeper look into it.
Just for sake of curiosity, with that fstab in place, could you take a look at journactl and see if there's something strange there ?
