Unable to Pin Applications to Task Bar?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone knows how to pin applications to the taskbar in the latest version of Solus Budgie?

EDIT: It used to be that you would right click an open window of a particular application and then just select "Pin" or "Pin to Taskbar"

It's always been that you right click on the icon in the IconTasklist and choose pin. With the new popover design, you click the "star" button to favorite the app (when it is running).

There is also the "drag & drop" from the Budgie Menu.

I am having an issue slightly related to this, when I mouse over the icon no option appears to unpin the app. It certainly did prior, as I did so yesterday. I am not sure what if anything has changed in the mean time. Has anyone else encountered this?
When I mouse over the icon, it just shows the name now.

Soopyyy Using Budgie you have to right-click on the icon. As far as I know, it's always been that way.

EbonJaeger I found the problem. The mouse click emulation for the trackpad was enabled. I had to double finger tap the pad to get it to work, right clicking simply opened the app. Absolutely no idea why that was on, but that's what the issue was.

I'm having a difficulty pinning a custom launcher for Chrome saved in ~/.local/share/applications.
I run the custom launcher, it opens fine as expected, then I fav it. Next time I click on it (from the taskbar this time), it defaults to the default Chrome launcher.
Any solutions come to mind? I tried using a different name for the launcher but it makes no difference. This could possibly be a bug.

Also drag and dropping from the menu to the taskbar doesn't work, for me at least.

I've located where the value is stored: /com/solus-project/budgie-panel/instance/icon-tasklist/{9f56c288-7e8f-11e6-a185-5fb758230d1f}/pinned-launchers
I used my custom launcher name specifically chrome-dark.desktop. No go, still launches the default one.
I also noticed that as I drag the icon, as if to rearrange it's position, it reverts the value to google-chrome.desktop as well.

kalligator Could you share your custom desktop file so I can try a few things and maybe get it to work?

I'm away now, the only difference is I've added --enable-features=WebUIDarkMode --force-dark-mode at the end of the three executable lines and named it chrome-dark.desktop.

edit: Hmm, can't get it to work reliably either. Had it working for a while, but then changed something around to make sure and since then I couldn't do it again.
Workaround for now, if you don't need the "normal" Chrome, is to simply use the same file name for the desktop file in .local/share/applications as the normal Chrome file in /usr/share/applications and add your modifications. But this way you only have this entry in your menu and can't launch Chrome without the "dark mode"
