Late to the party but I just got this to work myself on a 2008 core2duo black macbook.
I had installed the drivers (via DoFlicky) and indeed I could see various APs around me (including my own) but would always timeout trying to get an IP address. I eventually ordered a USB wireless dongle, but alas that didn't work out of the box either - it can probably be made to work, but needs it's own driver install, so I went back to the broadcom built in and did the following:
- Uninstalled the driver via DoFlicky
- Installed broadcom-sta-current using eopkg (which in hindsight is all that DoFlicky is probably doing - I am new to Solus)
- but same result. I can see the APs but never connects. But... I just got it working yesterday.
The solution (for me) was to force the connection to 2.4Ghz. I suspect that either NetworkManager or the driver default to 5Ghz (and the driver probably supports) when possible. I think (I haven't checked) that the hardware in the macbook doesn't do 5Ghz (just checked, It's 802.11n so it should) or a bug in the driver at 5Ghz so it just times out instead of returning an error.
