MintSpider LibreOffice just works fine. Although I work with MS Office at work, I really don't need 100% compatibility at home. Home and work are totally different environments for me.
Justin Qedit, I do next to zero "office" work on my home PC. The fanciest I get is markdown 😃 But the pre-installed LibreOffice works for what I need when I do need it.
dbarron I'm a writer and work with a critique group of other writers and seldom (if ever) see any evidence of file incompatibility between Microsoft and LibreOffice. I use LibreOffice of course. I do get grumbling when I don't convert my files and they can't open on their phones though...(which I consider a personal flaw of their own).
cdorin Need to work on my VPS. Using nextcloud but haven't managed so far to install onlyoffice on the same machine (don't want to use docker). Offline, I stick to libreoffice
attackofhubris I've been using Softmaker for years now. https://www.softmaker.com/en/softmaker-office
MutedJam attackofhubris Same, this is my favourite cross-platform office suite. Almost no problems with complex Microsoft Office documents (which was a major pain point I had with LibreOffice) and a great UI. If only it was an open source solution.
elfprince LibreOffice, but on rare occasions. Usually I work in my terminal and use Nano to edit files.
attackofhubris MutedJam Yeah, I wish it was opensource as well. It just works so much better than anything else I've tried.
Fatih19 attackofhubris Give me a break. How the hell is the FOSS community able to make software like GIMP and Inkscape but can't make decent looking replacement of office that has a ribbon?
attackofhubris Fatih19 The ribbon isn't even the most important part to me. It's far superior in handling office files than Libreoffice.
Staudey I don't really use an Office suite at home. For what little I do have to handle Office files, LibreOffice is more than enough.
