Instalation of Solus Huawei Matebook D Ryzen

Hi there, i tried to install Solus plasma and also Solus budgie in my new laptop Huawei Matebook D (ryzen version) with the same result:

Sometimes I have total freeze in the system, i need to reboot to have an operational system again.
I have time to time some graphical glitchs, from the tests i made it happens in gimp, firefox, chrome, vlc in idle. (see attachment)
I also found some errors in systemctl :systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video1.service loaded failed failed Load/Sav>

I had arch installed in this laptop using this tweaks without problems - https://gitlab.com/cscs/linux-on-huawei-matebook-d-14-amd

I would like to have Solus working in this laptop with your help if its possible.

Christoph3 I had problems installing linux on a Lenovo Ryzen notebook caused by a (known) bug in the Lenovo BIOS. For solving the problem, certain kernel parameters need to be set (for IOAPIC and IOMMU). Maybe it is a similar problem with your hardware ? First step would be checking for BIOS updates.

saitam Hi there checked the bios update, its full updated. Which parameters do you use ? I was able to add some to the cmdline but i still have some frozens and a lot of graphical glitchs.

Christoph3 I took the parameters as ivrs_ioapic[32]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[33]=00:00.1 clocksource=hpet libata.force=1:nohrst iommu=pt (from: https://evilazrael.de/comment/952) but I think they are specific to the Lenovo setup. Could be a hardware problem... You should run some diagnostics.

kyrios hi there, i doubt its hardware related because i can run arch + opensuse with the tweaks i stated before without problems at all.

Regarding the window tearing VLC, FF, check hardware acceleration is ON. I believe OFF is default.

Perhaps you should compare the kernel parameters of arch/opensuse and solus.

kyrios Hi there kyrios, i compared and tried to boot with them, but the acpi part of the tweaks dont work on solus or at least i get a frozen boot. With the working tweaks i get still graphical glitchs and also frozen desktop sometimes.

Hi guys, new report:

I was able to edit cmdline file in /etc/kernel/cmdline as told in Solus Wiki with some parameters that made my laptop lockup free at least for 2 days.
Still getting some graphical glitch sometimes.

Lines added to cmdline: ivrs_ioapic[4]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[5]=00:00.2 idle=nomwait acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor

Hope this helps any huawei matebook D ryzen user in the future.
