How to TTY in Solus

Hi I am new to solus, did the install, went fine. Updates after reboot took hours to do, but finally got up to date by applying updates manually 6 at a time and 3 reboots. Everything seems ok now, thankfully.
Is it possible to update system via tty screen?
If so what is the key combination to get into TTY, and then back to desktop when complete. I am fomer manjaro user. Cheers.

CTRL+ALT+F1 to get to TTY1 and then later CTRL+ALT+F7 to get back to the graphical session.
Not sure what the benefits of that would be though (over simply updating from e.g. gnome-terminal)

Open terminal: sudo eopkg up. No need for a TTY. But if you feel the need for one Staudey's explanation is correct.
