How to change the monitor frequency?

My old monitor Samsung SyncMaster B2030 officially supports 75Hz but in the settings and xrandr maximum 60Hz. I will be glad to any answer.

You can create a new screen resolution.

Are you absolutely sure that monitor supports 75 Hz with the connector you're using?
(i.e. do you have the specifications on hand, or have you succesfully tried it on another system)

If it really does, then yeah, you'll probably have to play around with xrandr

Staudey The dvi-d connector windows and mac os runs at 77 Hz but I tuned in via nvidia settings and other programs.

Using the value get the cvt output for new mode
Example: cvt 1600 900
Add the output
xrandr --newmode [cvt output got from terminal]

You can try cvt 1900 900 75

cvt 1600 900 75
cvt output from terminal will be like this
Modeline "1600x900_75.00" 151.25 1600 1704 1872 2144 900 903 908 942 -hsync +vsync
add this entire line
ex:
xrandr --newmode Modeline "1600x900_75.00" 151.25 1600 1704 1872 2144 900 903 908 942 -hsync +vsync
check xrandr orxrandr -q for the mode added or not
xrandr --newmode <cvt output from terminal>
xrandr --addmode DVI-I-1 1600x900_75.00
xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --mode 1600x900_75.00

if it doesnt work then go for 1440x900 75

With the configuration 1600x900_75.00 gives an error. 1440x900_75.00 works as expected, but the picture is not sharp.

MAX1000000 try other options VGA or HDMI ...the method is same to create new mode...

viyoriya VGA does not work with 75 Hz, HDMI my monitor does not support.
I have DVI-D (Single Link), maybe this will fix DVI-D (Dual LInk) ?

MAX1000000 oww really i dont know about dvi-d i just use VGA . I tried these steps long time ago so i forwarded the same commands to you. May be someone in this forum using DVI-D will help you. 😀
