pm314 With gnome there is also an extension called Argos that lets you create shell extension from scripts. Someone created a nice weather script that runs within Argos. very mild summer here in Chicago....

mdiemer A really nice one is the one that comes with XFCE. I forget what it's called. You install it as an add-on for the panel. It gives all kinds of astronomical data, even your latitude/longitude!
beerminer Another one that might be worth a look is Meteo. It is available as a flatpak here: https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.gitlab.bitseater.meteo Here is the github page: https://github.com/dglent/meteo-qt It seems to have about the same info as the openweather extension, but also has weather maps. It is a qt app, but still looked reasonable when I tried the flatpak on the GNOME desktop (system tray integration as well).
