edivan This has been affecting me for several years as well, though it does work partially.
I can view (note: read, not write) most folders that require root to be viewed, and I can edit (via "Edit as Administrator") text files that require root to be written to.
For all else, I just use use the terminal, except for cases I need something graphical, in which case I run "sudo nautilus".
