Lenovo Legion Brighness Problem, - not controllable

Its not far away, I thanked the maintainers for their work. But my Legion 5 seems to bullies me...

2 weeks ago, after update the rig to linux-current 7.0.3-336, it had problems to control the brightness. It was dark as possible. Using the LTS Kernel, there where no problems.

Then cames the kernel 7.0.5-337, and it seems that the problem is solved.

today I have to reboot and now the brightness is not controlable, until I change to the LTS kernel...

Did anyone else have an Lenovo Legion 5 17ACH6H and some trouble with it?

I have to reply to myself…. The problem seems to be solved. As soon as I wrote the text above, there was an update to kernel 7.0.6-338 including new lenovo-legion-linux kernel modules, which could have some magic repair effects…

sometimes it just happens that way behind the scenes, maybe there were a handful of Legion users clamoring about the Brightness and it got noticed. Either way, congrats.

it is unbelievable, it's changing from week to week. Today I update my solus and the kernel is now 7.0.7.

…and the brightness isn't working. An direct change to kernel 7.0.6 and the brightness was ok.

"was" means : I test 7.0.7, re-install "lenovo-legion-tool" and restart the notebook. Now it isn't possible to control the brightness, neither 7.0.6 nor 7.0.7.

Only the LTS kernel works…

lenovo-legion-linux hasn't tagged a new version since March 2025. There are kernel 7.0 compatibility patches merged upstream but they do not apply cleanly to the current version.

I would advise opening a bug report here getsolus/packages and maybe our maintainer of lenovo-legion-linux can see if a git build is viable / rebase the required patches.

I think the problem is solved. There where some updates to the current kernel, the lenovo-tools and the lenovo kernel modules. And I figured out that there was a missing package on my Legion 5 for the NVIDIA driver. All this or one of them was the key to fix it.
