Heya folks! It's sync day, and that means it's time for the weekly Solus roundup!
Our kernels have been updated this week. The LTS kernel is now at version 6.18.25, while the current kernel at 7.0.2. Check out the highlights for kernel 7.0 here. Note that we had already updated our kernels last week to 6.18.23, which is unaffected by the recently dubbed "CopyFail" exploit.
Important! With this week's kernel updates, nvidia-470-glx-driver-current and nvidia-developer-driver-* are being deprecated! If you are using the 470 driver, you will have to switch to the LTS kernel!
The NVIDIA GLX driver and open kernel modules have also been updated to 580.142.
Niri has been updated to 26.04. This is a major update for Niri, featuring blur effects, optional configuration file loading, pointer warping while scrolling, screencasting improvements, and more. Check out all that's new here.
Users of window managers such as Niri, Sway, Hyprland, and others may be excited to learn that DankMaterialShell has been added to the Solus repository. It offers a complete desktop experience with no hassle, and no manual editing of configuration files. Make your desktop dank today! Note: If you previously installed DMS or any of its dependenies manually, you may want to remove them first to ensure that you're using the correct versions of all programs.
A new system resources application called Resources has been added to the Solus repository. It is a system monitor designed for GNOME as an alternative to GNOME System Monitor.
You can now donate to Solus through GitHub Sponsors. All money will be routed to our Open Collective balance. We've added this to provide an alternative to Open Collective, but we still prefer people donate through Open Collective.
