Is there a note taking package that is similar to onenote,its the only thing now holding me back from getting rid of windows altogether.Everything ive tried ie either too complicated or too ugly in comparison.Shame because Solus appears to be rock sold and so much quicker than windows

Personally I'm a user of QOwnNotes and I have it sync up with my Nextcloud install. It takes a bit to get set up, you can move all the panels around and basically create your own layout, but it's the closest I've gotten to a good note-taking application along the lines of Onenote.

There are a bunch of simpler options like Gnote, Simplenote, "Notes", etc. that may be worth taking a look at as well.

Alternatively you can use OneNote Web.

Thanks for taking time to answer Josh,I think i tried qownnotes but Ill try and persevere on your recommendations. I wanted something that was good out of the box , but the note taker is really the only thing I have against solus which I think is superb

Joplin replaced OneNote for me, it''s open sauce and available on every platform, sadly it's not in the Solus repository.

I found Joplin works very well using the appimage on Solus; it can be made to autostart and remain in the panel. The terminal version, too, works fine once nodejs is installed (useful to run automatic full backups of all notes via systemd using joplin export)
Notes can be synced to Android phone quite easy via Dropbox, set and forget (so far). And you have the option of end to end encryption, so notes aren't sitting on Dropbox as plain text.
I have tried cherrytree and others, but like Joplin so far. I've stuck with gnotes for years, but like the extras Joplin offers.
