The number changes every time we release a new ISO. The number itself doesn't mean anything and was historically used as a milestone to reference such as X is aimed to be done in version Y.
Its not like Fedora or Ubuntu where different releases have different repos and support windows. So there is no reason for people to really care what the number is, its a new ISO the end.
