How hard is it to upgrade Nvidia card?

I am currently using a GT 1030 GPU with Solus and it has selected the correct driver for this card, the 580xx driver. I have just ordered a GTX 1650 GPU to upgrade. How easy is it to upgrade the drivers?

For example can I just change the GPU and it will boot into Solus and run and update and it will detect the card and upgrade drivers to 595xx? Or will I get a blank screen with the 580xx drivers and have to use TTY to upgrade or use the Open drivers?

I am not an Nvidia user but I think it should just work. I don't think GTX 1650 is supported by nvidia-open (not sure). So, you would stay on nvidia-glx-driver.

I use RX550 and it work fine. No fiddling whatsoever.

I've had AMD cards before and they were a nightmare 😃 Maybe not new ones but older ones were.

6000 series and up and you're safe. I can't speak for the lower series, but the Radeon got good implementation over the year.

I have an NVIDIA 1650 graphics card, and it's supported by the open-kernel driver. You need to install it. Right now, it's version 580; when version 595 is ready, the update will happen automatically.
You nées to install the 32bits version to.
