Budgie audio issue survey

Solarmass can confirm..
often (not always) when I open of Budgie Volume Settings the slider is set to 0 (off). For years I've kept it 110%.
Sometimes defaults very low (20%-ish?).
This is def. new behavior. I have not taken steps to remedy yet, I just pull the slider on down.
This is more a Wayland Budgie things than X11 for me.
Am at work so can run no tests. Just confirming the audio thing.

I don't use over-amplification (it's disabled) and system volume level is about 50% most of the time. The issue was on Solus Budgie X11. Can't confirm it on Budgie Wayland.

The problem I had is that at my usual listening volume set in the system and in the music player app, music was playing at very low volume.

It's could be related to pipewire/wireplumber config on Budgie..

what's the difference between
"channelVolumes":[1.000000, 1.000000]
and
{"channelVolumes":[0.021432, 0.021432], ?
(and why do they change reporting sequence in the output)?

that has stood out to me since 3 days ago but just getting around to asking. inquiring minds etc

So you can change volume per applications. On Budgie you can do it in Raven or in Sound settings.
When you do that you would see corresponding volume in "channelVolumes"

Solarmass overamplication @ 105 0r 110 or something is my default (sound settings). maybe it got changed back during that mysterious suddenly-switch-to-low thing which started this thread 🤷 . Between X11 and Wayland Budgies I am paying less attention 🙂
