Started updating with Discover. I left it doing its thing. When I checked has it updated, I got no response from Budgie exept mouse moved on default wallpaper. Tried clicking, pressed windows button, etc. no response. Then screen went blank. Tried esc. ,Ctrl alt del, ctrl alt F1, F2 etc. Blank screen. Had to push reset button from computer. Computer rebooted. I got back to desktop. First thing I noticed that apps (browsers, solseek, discover) cant get to internet, though my network indicator indicates that connection is established.
Writing from my Android phone.
What to do?

MikeK61 Can such small updates be made without reboot ?

For things like browsers, email clients and other stand alone apps like that, after updating if the app is open close it and re-open. For stuff like the kernel, mesa, nvidia, any driver, the desktop environment etc reboot.

Can't really give a universal answer it'd be on a per package basis which is why our general recommendation would be reboot. Although I think discover has a tray notification for when it thinks reboots are required.

Sync went well. I'm mounting a ntfs partition with Dolphin and all the files on it were marked as "executable" which always bothered me. A was close to start a thread about it and ask how to change this but since the latest sync the file permission changed back to "normal".

I was just wondering why?

Nothing we did. At least not knowingly.

Oh I was wrong sorry, noticed that just the right click drop down menu changed and all the files are further marked as executable.
