After an update, the network drivers are missing and gone, I'm using a 'live CD' to send this post. How to update the partition that has my main solus installation?

Is your system encrypted? if not you can skip this step as mentioned in the docs.

Please read the documentation as carefully as possible. Follow the troubleshooting steps one by one.

are there supposed to be packages internal to the OS that it might be installed from without internet?
I combed through the 'Discover' package manager, and it contains nothing, attempts end with: no network connection 🙁

Might some kind soul list all the packages I'd need to reinstall to have Ethernet again? i found zipped files in var/cache/eopkg I am writing down the commands on how to reinstall software offline. Just to be certain i have the updates, i saved 328 zipped files to a flashdrive and have them in a folder, which are updates. A command on how to point eopkg to that specific folder to fetch/get the updates would be most appreciated ! 🙂

brent I thank you for the effort and time you so lovingly put into Solus.
My computing life since 2013 has been rough to put it very mildly. It appears little old me has ruffled the feathers of some mean folks who are determined to cause me grief, that said, i have been unable to reinstall anything as the 'eopkg' keeps trying to connect to the non-existent internet connection. I wrote down all the commands with great care regarding updates and package re-installation, all of which have failed: 'Program Terminated: Errno'
is what's returned when i attempt them. I hesitate to reinstall the whole OS as, my time, is like yours, Valuable.
Even with the updates in plain sight of 'eopkg', it still indicates they need dependencies which tries to connect.
The history feature is also needing that connection.
I'm wondering if Solus can get a 'Manual Mode' specifically reinstall what packages are already in the OS somewhere as the 'sudo eopkg |grep Broken|' command with its other parts returns all clear as does eopkg check.

catfishsushi I had a re-heated hamburger, that was on the grill days ago, mesquite smoked to be exact, and added the old lady's Swiss cheese to it but did not tell her, and used the lower heat microwave settings so cheese would melt nicely. Seems like you are paying for internet and not getting it as far as the Solus end?

Someone on the forum needs some commands for you to determine if your poor connection is
1) ISP
or
2) Solus/internal?

I don't know how this works (beyond simple pinging) but I know that some people do know how to isolate an ISP connection from something wrecked in operating system.
Over my head as the present. Good luck on this.

edit:point being is if you know where the problem originates then that would be your road to troubleshooting

brent the 'Discover' app installer is not working when i click on the Hardware part close to the bottom. It just says 'No information is Available'. Internet is fine & checks out, good speed.

Having received an free upgrade to the speed, i had to buy a TP-Link 2.5 gb PCI network adapter, which worked perfectly with Solus, needing no software at all. The speed is fine, the card is working, in the settings menu, all there is for internet is: Proxies and the thing for Passive File transfer, the 'Wifi & Networking' listing is gone/missing

I've run over 20 searches with different keywords about-- command: unknown, almost all point to a partial corruption of information in the Bios. I updated the Bios to the manufacturer's latest Stable version back in December. UEFI is set at default, with no overclocking of anything. i like to stay well in the Safe area.

I need to offer an apology to the community at large, as i have not any clue how to do a proper presentation with the various kinds/types of fonts and settings to make it look so elegant as Y'all do. I read carefully the Community guidelines but may need further instruction on how to post code. The ping to google.com returned zero. The inxi -i returned [ no WAN ip found connected to web? SSL issues? ]
current kernel is 6.18.12-329

additionally, a friend gave me these commands: lspci | grep -i net lsusb | grep -i net
the lspci showed both adapters working & their driver numbers. As a Concept and Idea, have a special/separate file/folder to cache the previous update, so as in my case, an offline sudo eopkg history -t number can revert the system to its previous state until a fix or patch is found. Out of curiosity does a command exist that compares what's supposed to be in the OS as opposed to just checking for broken or orphaned packages? And then reinstalling what's missing?

my budgie 4.8 came with Discover and I removed it and about 50 KDE packages. Is there a command to tell you what's different between a stock version and your current version? Good question. That would be magical. Every move you made in terminal is captured by history (if all your package moves were made in terminal) so maybe there's a history log?

I really hope you get a second opinion. It's unusual 1) not to have it 2) or not have the service.

I don't know why it was removed if that's the case.

Thanks to the wonderful tips, help and advice. i found the .bash.history file and no commands were given to remove anything, mostly to re-run sudo usysconf run -f command after an update and just before rebooting. If you are going to reinstall Solus....you could try re-installing NetworkManager right now. Might fix everything. After you backup, of course, since you got nothing to lose.

While everything i desired has been installed.... Vivaldi snapshot is doing the hang upon opening and not working, as does the normal Vivaldi. May edit this in a min or two.
