So I primarily use AMD on my desktop systems, but I have two Legion laptops with Nvidia (3050 & 4070) plus an older test desktop with a 2070. As mentioned in Matrix I have been doing a lot of testing over the last week+.
Tested on all desktops, benchmarks, and a few games on each.
- In benchmarks and games, there were no discernible differences and generally fell in the margin of error. So that is a win for the open drivers.
- Benchmarked CUDA and it was mostly the same.
- Did not witness any stability difference between the two.
I am not using these systems as a daily driver, so I do not consider this the same as people who are.
Nvidia does now recommend the open driver for all models on the list, which is essentially the 20 series and above.
