Wine broken following Week 4 2026 update

My wine programs wont load have re-installed wine but try Virtual DJ and 32 bit version, both used to work but now nothing happens when launched.

The only change to wine was moving where fontconfig files were installed to, which I don't think should have any impact to apps installed via wine, so that one isn't as easy to fix. You did reboot right?

Harvey I have tried the Q4Wine program and none of the programs (explorer winecfg etc) work. I will try re-installing VDJ.

banger Gotcha if it was AMD I was going to say it could be related to the Rocm update as there have been some reports. I actually started using the Bottles Flatpak because Wine can be sensitive to the GPU driver stack changes. Sorry I could not be more help.

One thing you can do to maybe get more of an idea of what the problem is make sure all the wine processes are killed and run DISPLAY= winecfg from the terminal to see if there are any errors from wine itself.

Tried Bottles but although I got VDJ to run it was complaining about the graphics driver and lots of flashing boxes which aren't supposed to be flashing. Wine just doesn't load tried to re-install VDJ through Wine got the launch feed back but the installer just doesn't start.

Going to play with bottles see if I can get any further.

Had the same problems as well with my lone Windows app. I removed Wine for now and installed the Flatpak version of Bottles and it works. Had to tweak the bottle a bit as it is an older program, but was able to get there. Will go back to wine once it is fixed.

We are looking into the issue with Wine. Our package for it is old, so we're going to update it and see if that fixes things.

Couldn't get Bottles to play with VDJ as it requires browser integration and with it being a flatpak it seems to be sandboxed.

Go to the bottle you created.
Go down to and click on dependencies.
Search for webview2 and install it.

See if that fixes it for you

You can use flatseal or if you are on plasma, plasma settings -> application settings -> find the application you have installed and click it -> flatpak permissions -> then you can punch holes in the container.

But whats needed for bottles/VDJ exactly I have no idea.

Or obviously wait for us to fix wine.

I can run in a VirtualBox VM I will have to run it like that until Wine is updated.

does this issue impact Steam gaming or games launched through Heroic Launcher?
these programs utilize some variants of Wine in one way or another.

Probably not, they tend to use proton.

snowee If you use wine from the repo via those launcher the yes it will affect those. But Heroic and Steam usually prefer their own wine flavor (separately downloaded), so it is most likely does not have any effect on those.

Proton still works. Just tested earlier.
