Heya folks! It's sync day, and that means it's time for the weekly Solus roundup!
Tomorrow, Saturday January 17, 2026, we will be performing scheduled maintenance on our package server starting at 5:00 PM UTC, and ending at 1:00 AM UTC on Sunday, January 18, 2026. During this time, the package repositories may be unavailable, meaning users will not be able to update packages or install new packages.
As of this week, we now have a working debuginfod server. This means that when users experience a crash in a program, the relevant debug code symbols will be automatically downloaded from the correct Solus packages so that more useful and accurate backtraces can be provided to developers for debugging. This week's update to elfutils sets up the correct environment variables for our server, so this should all work out of the box.
This is a good week for KDE Plasma users, since we have updates to Frameworks, Plasma, and Gear. KDE Frameworks has been updated to 6.22.0, with many improvements across the KDE libraries. KDE Plasma has been updated to 6.5.5, which is a bugfix release for the 6.5 series. Lastly, KDE Gear has been updated to 25.12.1. The changelogs for 25.12.0 and 25.12.1 are here and here, respectively.
KDE doesn't get to have all the fun, though. We also have GNOME 49.3 going out to users this sync. This is a bugfix release for the 49 series. The changelog can be found here.
The NVIDIA drivers have been updated this week. The nvidia-glx-driver and nvidia-open kernel modules have been updated to 580.126.09, and the nvidia-beta-driver has been updated to 590.126.09 and egl-wayland2, the new EGL platform library new core driver versions. egl-gbm and egl-wayland also now support FP16 DRM formats.
Bisq has been updated to 1.9.22. This is a hotfix release that applies the upstream BitcoinJ fix for the chainwork. The bug caused Bisq to stall at block height 928,895 because the field used to store the accumulated proof of work was too small. If you experience any wallet-related issues, you may perform an SPV resync, although this should not be necessary.
ydotool has been added to the repository. It is a generic command line automation tool. Unlike xdotool, this program works under Wayland as well as X11.
ipcalc was deprecated from the repository this week. It is no longer maintained upstream. subnetcalc is a great alternative for this package.
Security updates
There are a couple of security updates this week. Make sure to install them for the latest vulnerability fixes.
General updates
The full list of updated packages can be found here.
For the list of currently known issues, see the dedicated thread for it. If you begin experiencing a bug, please look for an issue on our issue tracker, and open a new one if one does not exist.
That’s all for this week, folks! We'll be here same time, same place next week for another roundup of the news!
