lots of factors, you are certainly right, even ISP, time of day traffic, server end, etc. nothing has ever bothered me enough to toggle IPV6.
for instance , even with terminal, flatpak update will always vary in speed.
nothing can really replace Solus Software Center for me, so the "stand in" GUI package managers are just ok to me, not anywhere near SC level.
at the end of the day, Elliot, is did these tools succeed? if so, keep using them. you gotta love FOSS choices. Sometimes the occasional "just ok" in the land of Above Average (Solus) is just fine.
