What driver do I need for an Nvidia GTX 760?

Fresh install. Solus Plasma. I am using the current kernel. Everything worked great but no browsers would open and no flatpaks would open with nouveau. I found the Nvidia 470 driver in Discover. Installed it. Total slide show, unusable. Had launch a TTY and roll back. What driver is the correct one to install?

PS I miss doflicky.

You must choose NVIDIA Graphics Driver in Discover, do not forget to enable add-ons NVIDIA Graphics Driver 32bit, required for games.
The nvidia-470-graphics-driver packages are reserved for legacy hardware support.

penny-farthing Pretty sure the old GTX 760 is no longer supported. The 470 driver I installed made the system unusable. I'll try another one I guess.

penny-farthing Installed it (the proprietary one). Now I'm stuck at the Dell logo and it won't boot. I ordered a refurbished AMD card of Amazon for $16 since none of the drivers we have will apparently work with it.

You're right, I read this on the web:
“The Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 is no longer supported by Nvidia since driver version 580, as it belongs to the Maxwell architecture, which has been discontinued by the manufacturer.”

Sorry that the proposed solution didn't solve your problem. Hopefully someone more experienced will be able to help you.

That GPU needs the nvidia-470-glx-driver packages. So if you're using the default/current kernel install the nvidia-470-glx-driver-current (nvidia-470-glx-driver for the LTS kernel) and nvidia-470-glx-driver-32bit packages. Not sure if that's what you got already by going through Discover.

That being said the driver is no longer supported by NVIDIA and will be dropped from Solus sooner or later too. So you might as well stay with the open source driver.

Staudey This is what I figured. I tried the 470 driver first but it's an unusable stuttery mess. Unfortunately nouveau is not drawing browser windows, flatpak, repo or otherwise. Not sure if that is a Wayland thing or if it also doesn't work on X. Anyway the cheap refurbed AMD card is on the way and I fully expect that to work.
