BuzzPCSOS I think some users reported removing Kwallet as they did not require that layer of security. Looking at the Repo I notice that Kwallet is listed as being a Solus or a Flatpak install which would indicate that it is optional. If it aint broke don't fix it. Kwallet does not seem to slow the OS down or take up too much room, probably better to leave it installed especially if you have already used it during initial OS setup.
it took an hour to get every kpackage off of budgie. I was adamant. I have never recovered from the trauma of Baloo sneaking into k-apps and suffocating budgie into an un-usable mess. three times it got past me as a newbie and three days wasted disabling the indexer. those scars last 🙂
As for kwallet you'd have to install Windows before you find a nosier app with its hands in everything. These things were very off-putting to me and have skewed my (perhaps unfair) view.
If that's the cost of using future Budgie we'll cross that road when we get there.
BTW fstrim enableit's hard to tell. when I did it in terminal after install the command returned no output. which leads me to think it wasn't? I based that on sudo ufw enable which also returned no output. But I did notsystemctl status fstrim.timer. I'm in old Budge now so will check later.
thanks for your response.
PS I really needed fresh. 4.8 is snappy on a bigger SSD and it feels good to have a lot of debris and clutter dragged in through the years gone.
I have heard people say many times that excess debris and clutter are harmless to an OS, i.e. just files laying around but I don't subscribe to that as many don't.
