First of all, I wish a merry Christmas for everyone here, reading that message! ^^

Second... after I had a little problem with Plasma Wayland, which forced me to switch to the Beta version of nVidia's proprietary driver (v. 580), some months later, the new update for nvidia driver finally came, and it was time to switch back to the stable branch. However, I was a bit stressed to do it, because I don't like to play with that on Linux. And after I removed the Beta driver, when I read in the terminal I couldn't install back nvidia-current, it really stressed me out. Used to Linux, I was expected that after rebooting, I would be welcomed with a black screen and couldn't access to my computer any more...
However, since I didn't know what else to do, I updated the system, I restarted and... not only did my system worked, but it also reinstalled automatically nvidia-current, so I didn't have anything to do.

Really, I'm always surprised and shocked by how stable, reliable and performant Solus is. Even using Wayland works perfectly. I never experienced such things when I tried Mint, Manjaro, Ubuntu, Fedora or any other distros. Only Solus worked that well for me.

It's been 1 year and a half since I completly started to use that OS, and I really REALLY hope it will never dies. No loss of performance, no disappointment (except for the tiny problem that forced me to install the Beta driver, but nothing can be perfect, and it was more a problem from Wayland + Nvidia combo than from Solus directly). It runs perfectly, everything works... And thanks to that, I was able to switch 100% from Windows to Linux even before Windows 10 stopped being supported, forcing Windows users to use the dangerous crap that is Win11.

I've already posted a similar message like 1 year ago, but really, I needed to express my sincere gratitude and to thank all of the Solus team again. You're the best! <3

That's nice and all but I know no Solus mechanism which would perform those actions, so perhaps the magic was within you all along (that is, perhaps you inadvertently installed already installed nvidia-glx-driver-current yourself somehow).

add to that how remarkably smooth it renders plus it's unique visual style and I'd agree with your statement it's one of the best kept secrets.
Solus has some unique challenges ahead but at least they are looking them in the eye and going forward.

Staudey Ah? Well... Maybe. Though, I tried to install the current driver from Discover and from the terminal before installing the update. It gave me an error message each time. XD

But whatever if that's the case or not, my message is still the same. Solus is really the best Linux OS I distro-hopped to, and the one that made me stop distrohopping, and I'm really grateful to all the people who created the OS and keeps maintaining it. ^^

So many people post about Linux Mint for newbs like I still am, CachyOS is hot and honestly a solid option, Fedora has been on a hot streak, but I only found Solus through social posts posting the weekly sync news there. It got me curious and gave it a try. Needless to say I am hooked. I no longer even dual-boot Windows and just a VM for a few work things. Mint didn't fit what I wanted and Cinnamon was just not my thing. Fedora was great, but felt so bloated. CachyOS was really good, but something never felt right and the community was too gamer focused for me, even though I like to game. Solus honestly felt like home and performance was not much difference that CachyOS in my games and faster than I had with Fedora and Mint. Plus the community is awesome.

I've been on Solus for about 4 or 5 years now. I did my tour of duty between all the big names before that.
I came to Solus and stayed, the team, the OS, the Forum, they are all excellent.
I feel privileged to have been part of the Solus journey, watching it evolve after resurrecting like a phoenix from the fire. I've got to know and chat to a good number of forum members here, including the regulars whose opinions and knowledge I value and enjoy.
Massive appreciation for the Team who continue to make this all possible. Keep up the good work.

Been on Solus for just under a year now. For this old Linux guy, it was something that I had missed but didn't realize I missed. The independent distro with a great community where the project team not only doesn't look down on its community but is a part of it. For me, strong communities are what made Linux great in the first place, but somewhere along the line that was lost to an extent. With Solus and the community, I feel that again here. So happy holidays and merry Christmas to everyone, and I hope no matter who you are or what you believe, you have a wonderful holiday season and new year!

I also wish to put out my gratitude as well for the Solus Team and all the effort. Personally I have been using Solus since 2015/2016 and I have never had any major issues with it, this is basically that very first system if I recall correctly, updated on new drives, yes, but always being Budgie. 😃 What convinced me installing Solus is the coding from anew and not simply just putting out a new fork. Solus did for a while seem like it may not survive but I never stopped using it. Today its my main OS besides Cinnamon. All in all Solus has come a long way and its only getting better! Shout out to the Team and all the side quests. Thanks you rock!

Thank you very much Solus to be in my life! On my main PC, I tried Solus for the first time i'm not sure exactly when but probably somewhere in 2017-2018. Was not a big fan at first so I switched back to another distro probably arch since I used arch for a while. Then in 2019 I tried solus again and was impressed with it. I used it for a while but when the issues with Solus happened I think in 2023???? I switched back to something arch based. As soon As I saw that Solus was back and updated regularly, i returned to Solus. I hopped to other distros recently but always came back quickly to Solus gnome. So now I am done with distro hopping and plan to stay on Solus. I even switched my intel 8th gen laptop to solus recently after years using mint debian edition on it.

i 100% agree, solus, the community, the devs/maintainers, everyone involved in solus seems to genuinely care about the project.
ive been here for years, couldn't tell you quite how long, but i came along somewhat early, in the ikey days, always had a reliable experience here.

I think places like distro watch are crooked
Solus has had alot of positive reviews their lately and its gone way down the list
So go figure.

But It does not change the fact that I will use as long as it is around.
