Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting Solus to communicate with an Epson Perfection scanner.

I've been using Solus for a while now, and so far my workaround is to boot into Windows when I need to scan something.

I've tried Utsushi, Sane, and Simple Scan from the software center.
I've also tried compiling Epson's drivers from source, using the guide below from the Help Center,
https://getsol.us/articles/packaging/building-a-package/en/
but most of this process is beyond my skills - so I don't quite know if it failed because of something I did wrong, or if there is an innate incompatibility between Epson's drivers and Solus.

The was, on the old forum, a guide for compiling scanner drivers from source on Solus, but I can't find the discussion now.

Any help would be appreciated.

In my experience, if what you need is not in the pre-installed (I think) cups and gutenprint packages, then go here:

Someone may have had your identical model problem and the devs made them a custom package.
If your model is not discussed on that link, then start an account w/yr solus id and request a scanner/printer driver package for your specific device. Lots of printer driver success stories at the dev site.

    Hello, this is how my Epson L365 started working perfectly, even in WiFi mode:

    • turn the firewall off;

    • update scanner firmware;

    • install utsushi, gscan2pdf, sane, simple scan;

    • restart computer;

    • sudo eopkg check | grep Broken | awk '{print $4}' | xargs sudo eopkg it --reinstall

    • try all scanning softwares

    inkbug Then there's the go-to-sleep-wake-up-boot-up-omg-it-fixed-itself option that magically happens sometimes
    😀

    I too have the issue of setting my Epson XP-203 printer. Installed the Epson driver still it doesn't find my printer and scanner 🙁 I have requested for the support of my printer - https://dev.getsol.us/T83
