Can I change kernel version?

About a couple of months ago I started to get bad screen tearing on my Aurora (i.e. Plasma) installation. Since some other bugs had also appeared in my Aurora installation a few months ago, I attributed the tearing to Aurora, so I decided to switch back to Solus.
I was very surprised to see that the same issue was on Solus Plasma too. A google search hints at it being a kernel regression, hence my question to run another kernel, ideally the 6.12 LTS. Is it possible?

Regarding the tearing: my PC is connected to my 4K TV by HDMI, and it's on the TV the tearing occurs, not an my PC monitor; that setup has been working fine for years until 2-3 months ago.

Can I stay on that branch indefinitely while the rest of system updates as usual?

Yes, nothing prevents you from doing so, you just need to install the right packages that use kernel modules as indicated in the help section.

To be clear, our next LTS kernel will be 6.18. Based on previous linux-lts branch changes that would mean it would move to 6.18.x at some point after linux-current is >=6.19

So I would assume you have a few months of linux-lts being 6.12.x

Is there any way to stay on 6.12 or is it mandatory bump to 6.18?

Given that I've had this bug for months I'm not confident it will be fixed by the next LTS.

No, when linux-lts is updated to a newer branch there will be no option to remain on the old branch.
