AlphaElwedritsch People who use it like to refer to it as "complete", i.e. it's doing what it's supposed to, nothing new to add, most bugs got squashed (except, as evidenced, sometimes bitrot catches up). Unfortunately it's X11 based software though. There are a few Wayland based clones, labwc being the most popular right now (it's also in Solus repo), but none have achieved feature parity with OB yet. This is partly because Wayland is still missing a few required protocols. So no, not quite dead. It still has a small, but dedicated user base. (And pops up on r/unixporn semi-frequently.)
