Found a solution to the numlock on on boot for Plasma. Editing the conf file no longer works but a more simple way is to go to Settings, search for SDDM (Login screen) and when the numlock is set to on in after plasma login "Apply Plasma settings to Login" and num lock should be on on next boot. 🙂
