Since Discover was showing the firmware updates along with the software updates, I had assumed that they would all get installed together!
I entered the commands and there were two issues:
fwupdmgr get-updates produces a long output, which includes an error message:
Update Error: Not enough efivarfs space, requested 30.7 kB and got 16.3 kB
And sudo fwupdmgr updates resulted in: Command not found
In spite of that the Lenovo TPM update was installed, but not the Lenovo Embedded Controller update, and Discover is still prompting me to install the latter.
