Gnome Tweaks issue, Solus Budgie

I've noticed that Gnome-Tweaks no longer appears in the menu or launches after the recent update. The software manager shows it as an installed app. I uninstalled and reinstalled via the CL...Didn't work...Does the new version of Budgie no longer support Gnome-Tweaks?

But when I run gnome-tweaks in terminal, it opens.

this happened to me once and I filed a bug report https://github.com/getsolus/packages/issues/5865
if your terminal output matches mine then it was some GTK error that an update fixed eventually.
Hope that's a place to start.
--If your terminal output does not match mine then post it anyway, maybe someone will have some insight.
EDIT: gnome-tweaks is the name of the binary so you are good there

excellent question. I was using gnome when I filed the bug.
on budgie I never used it (used gnome control center instead)

@PC-TECH Budgie Desktop Settings should be the equivalent to Gnome Tweaks.

Sebastian Yeah...I see that as well. But the system reports an error...Gnome shell missing not installed...But the app does work.

The .desktop file for Tweaks contains OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;Pantheon;, meaning it will only show up in those desktop environments. It probably only ever worked because Budgie used to report itself as GNOME:Budgie.

There is a way to make this application appear; here's how:

Install the Main Menu (Menu Principal) application (flatpak version), then launch it.
In the top left corner, click on the hamburger menu (three points), then select "Show hidden items" (Afficher les éléments cachés)
Find the "Visibility" (Visibilité) section.
Click the + sign next to "Show this app in certain environments."
Select "Budgie."
Click Save (in the top right corner), and it's working.
Finally, return to the hamburger menu in the top left corner to uncheck "Show hidden items," then close the Main Menu application.

Run:
cp /usr/share/applications/org.gnome.tweaks.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/

Then edit:
~/.local/share/applications/org.gnome.tweaks.desktop

Add Budgie so the line looks like this:
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;Pantheon;Budgie;

Save the file

That's expected behaviour in Budgie and not new. Budgie is based on GNOME, but it isn't GNOME. Budgie has it's own shell and doesn't come with GNOME shell installed.

GNOME tweaks is designed for GNOME, not Budgie. That it kind of works in Budgie is rather by accident than by design.
At some point in time I expect Tweaks to stop working in Budgie, as Budgie is in process of getting more independent from it's GNOME base.
But for now you are just fine by following pomon's instructions regarding the desktop file to make Tweaks reappear in Budgie start menu.

Even better: if you got some spare minutes create an issue for this on the Solus dev tracker in order for this to get fixed for all Solus Budgie users:
