Issues with Solus and Nvidia 5000 series GPU

Hi, I tried to install Solus 4.8 on my main machine (Ryzen 7900X, MSI B650-P WIFI, NVIDIA 5070 TI)

Installation works fine, however after installing the Nvidia driver, I cannot get the system to boot properly anymore.

With the normal GLX driver, I cannot boot into Plasma. However I can access TTY. I tried to start X there, and get this error:

Does Solus have the NVIDIA open GPU kernel modules in the repos? Because those are required for the NVIDIA 5000 series to work. The usual Nvidia proprietary drivers do not work.

The GitHub issue has been updated and they are working on it, excited to install Solus on my main PC soon!

nvidia-open driver has just been added to the unstable repo and so will be available to regular users next sync. Please note this has received literally zero testing, we do not have the required hardware to do so and will have to rely on community feedback.

Users on the default kernel will want to install nvidia-open-current if you are on the LTS kernel you will want the nvidia-open package.

I haven't tried any games or anything yet, but installing the unstable package shows the driver in use with lspci and gives me a proper display, so good start! 👍️

Just note that people should not simply install just nvidia-open* from unstable on a system using the polaris (stable) repo as it is built for nvidia 580.x driver (it uses nvidia-glx-driver-common as a rundep) which is not currently in polaris so it will pull the older 570 version.

This might still work but it was not intended.
